Rise And Fall Starforce Patch
Now I don't need to install StarForce. Rise and Fall and from the DVD respectively the mounted image. Rise & Fall: Civilisations At War on Windows 7 possible?
I've tried everything I've found online and I can't get it to start. I even tried installing Win XP on another partition, which screwed my Win 7 installation up and I had to reinstall Win 7 and all the software I had already installed. None of my games work anymore.
I hoped I would be able to select either Win XP or Win 7 during the boot process. I tried installing my original(bought) copy, but wasn't able to install the StarForce copy protection. So I used a tool, 'StarForce removal kit', and a crack. Now I don't need to install StarForce, but whenever I try to launch the game it tells me the following error: 'Unable to locate file, the data path appears to be incorrect, please check your data path'. Then I tried installing a torrent download from 'Reloaded' which resulted in the same error message, 'Unable to locate file, the data path.'
I don't know what else I can try. I loved playing this game on my old PC, but it was very sluggish and almost unplayable with larger army sizes, even at the lowest settings, I had approximately 1-2 fps in the late game. I hoped, I could play it again now, on highest settings and with max. I'd really appreciate it if anybody could help me installing this game. Thanks a lot. You've got a pretty solid PC, why not try running it in a virtual machine?
Btw, I wrote the RaF wikipedia article, used to play that game a lot too. You know it's free now? Good article, it's even featured. I have already a legal copy of the game, so I'm not in dire need of a free one at the moment. Maybe to get an english version, that would be kind of nice. Could I get it at the riseandfallgame.com page?

Yeah, was my first featured article. Good memories. Well the free version doesn't have Star-Force copy protection, so you never know, it might work (SF sometimes has issues with Windows 7 I think). The link btw. Other than that, have you tried running in XP Compatability mode? I still have two minor gripes. Firstly the game crashes to the desktop sometimes and is very hard to start again afterwards.
Secondly, I set the maximum population limit to 5000 but all I can have in game is 2500 population. I built several granaries and upgraded them as far as possible.
Hmm, don't know how to fix the crash, could be anything. Drivers might be worth messing around with, but they could also make the game crash more too lol.
