Dec 28, 2010 The longest name for a car award goes to Audi but what a great car. Slightly hard leather would be my only bad remark about an otherwise excellent car. Hello and welcome to TSN I've ordered one (see signature below ) after weighing up many options. First off, I would go for the s-line spec of any A4 you order. Next, do you want a petrol or diesel? If it's a diesel you want, the 2.0 Tdi is a cracking car and will return excellent performance and economy. There's plenty of people on here with them who'll vouch for the engine's performance. If it's a petrol, you're after, you should be looking at the 2.0T, the 3.2 V6 and the S4.

Unless you can afford the running costs (a lot of us can't ) the S4 is out. That leaves the 2.0T and the 3.2 which were the 2 cars I looked. I was going to go for the 3.2 until the special edition was announced. It is 256PS and 330Nm torque with a lovely V6 burble. However the 2.0T S/E is 220PS and 300Nm of torque and performace wise is only about 0.5 seconds slower on the 0-62 (the 220PS Quattro is 6.9 seconds) and 3mph slower on the top end (152 mph) which is nothing.

It also comes with a load of kit that will cost you £s on the 3.2. Basically, as I saw it, to go for the 3.2, I was paying a lot more money, sacficing spec and would get less mpg while only really gaining a nice noise as the performance of the 2 cars is very similar.

Come resale time, you'll find a 3.2 saloon will have lost slightly more of it's value as well. After test driving the DTM (220PS + Quattro) my mind was made up Deal wise, push hard, very hard. Get a couple of dealers (I had 3) to quote you and let them know you're talking to others. Don't be afraid to go to a dealer outside your area as they'll deliver to your door on a transporter If you catch the right dealer at the right time, expect to get at least 10% discount on the list price, probably more.

My advice would be test drive a DTM if you can as it's the same 220PS engine and suspension. Then order the car quickly The first build week for any S/E in Europe is currently week 5 of 2006 with the first slots being given over to dealer allocation etc. As the orders back up, the UK delivery dates are probably going to slip into April I reckon (I am currently being quoted mid-March 'at the earliest' and I ordered mine nearly a month ago). If you want any more info on the car or discount, let me know. QUOTE Hi all, Just after some advice - Thinking of ordering the above car? Any words of wisdom?

Is it worth it? Anyone ordered one and got a good deal at all? Any other A4 model you would consider?

Thanks in advance Guys! / QUOTE I would say it's worth it - but definately go for quattro! (not sure you can even have 2WD with it) The only A4 models I would consider are the diesels, especially if you do a few miles, or care about fuel, or just like diesels! (I am the latter) I'm sure Milo can provide you with a wealth of knowledge about the car! Personally, I would hold out for more and sign as near to 10% as you can. It is acheivable and they know it. However it is what you're happy with that counts.

It you were only expecting 5% but have been offered 7%. Work out what is the minimum acceptable figure to you, be it 7%, 8% or even 10%, and go in with your cheque book and present your figures. Tell them if they can do the deal, you'll sign there and then and leave a £500 deposit. If they know you're serious and are clued up on discounts, there is every chance you'll get what you're after. It's worked for me before and it worked again this time when I ordered my special edition s-line; in fact they confused me by offering more discount than I'd asked for.

Getting a quote from UkNewCars is easy, go to the link I posted, click on Online quote on the left-hand side. Select Audi from the first drop down and A4 Saloon Special Edition from the second. Then click on the Select your car link. Bingo nearly £2800 saved. I did it on a new A3 last year and the dealer got to within 50 quid so I did the deal.

Also UKnewCar discount options at the same percentage, so make sure your dealer does. I am looking to do the same in a couple of weeks on a new A4 2.0T Cabriolet S-line. Can't wait, I love seeing the look on the dealers face when you pull that bit of paper out and show him the price you can get it elsewhere. Do UkNewCars apply the same level of discount to the options? They don't say if they do, only that they'd be happy to quote for them.

Also they is no mention of p/ex. Some brokers I have contacted in the past either only offered options at list or at a lower discount than the car - this makes the overall discount lower when you do the numbers. Another problem I have found in the past is the brokers can get very good prices for supplying the car via a franchised dealer but when you contact that franchised dealer for a p/ex figure, they either don't want to know or offer you a low price so you end up giving back a chunk of your discount. I managed to get double figure discount direct from a local dealer and a decent p/ex figure for my current car. I though the point of choosing an S-Line model from their list of cars was that you get the S-Line pack already for the quoted price!

Didn't think it was that good after that Edite to add: I now get it, the options available are for ALL cars and so in effect you can add an S-Line pack to an S-Line model, which is silly but their system doesn't seem to exclude things that the car already comes with and the text / instructions make it confusing on that note.
